Web Hosting Tales From the Crypt

web hosting tales from the crypt text and zombie dude

Greetings. Our stories often begin with a well-intentioned business owner in need of a website. The hosting providers they encounter, however, often lead to… dead ends. Or worse! Money down the drain. Be sure to steer clear of these all-too-common tales and work with a hosting provider who's got your back.

GoDaddy dragging another poor soul down into the depths with their god forsaken support system

GoDaddy Support (and paywall credits) Drag You Down

Our first story begins with a client who hosted through GoDaddy, one of the most popular web host providers. One would think with its popularity and resources, GoDaddy support for minor issues would be seamless. What we found was a process filled with sales pitches, purchase credit paywalls and a complete lack of willingness to talk to any outside party. Phone calls were even refused, as it was their method to resolve through email. The client had a yearly WP Premium Support Plan yet they were forced to act as the middle man between GoDaddy and a Plugin’s support team, at one point paying GoDaddy $50 for a support credit to add a file to their FTP. Due to the back and forth, something this simple took days to resolve.

If you’re looking for a complete support environment where your WordPress and Hosting Specialist act and solve on your behalf, look no further. There’s no sales pitch, no credit system, just managed hosting with fast results. Send an email and have it solved without the tiered service model filled with microtransactions. We’re available 24/7 via text message, phone or email.

Are You Being Held Hostage?

How they keep you out so you need to bring them in... at a cost.

We recently had a client come to us with a simple request: they needed a popup on their site's homepage. Problem was, they weren’t given complete access to their WordPress site by their current web developer. The plugin page was blocked, disallowing them from adding a simple popup plugin. With these admin privileges taken away, they had to reach out and ask for a plugin to be installed for a fee. Maddening.

We give you complete access when you want it, so you and your team can edit and add as much as you like. Our backups and staging sites make sure it’s safe to tinker. We won’t shut you out to lock you in and you can share access with whomever you need, presently and into the future.

When Agencies Outsource, Costs Creep In

We've outsourced for companies that would charge clients double (or more), for no reason other than they could.

In the past, we have worked as contractors for bigger agencies building responsive WordPress sites. While our rate was $2,000-2,500, we found they were charging more than double (sometimes triple!) for our work. The only difference was instead of speaking directly to us, the people building the site, clients went through an employee at the agency who would CC or forward along the request.

Don’t get caught in an outsourcing scheme so an agency can keep the lights on. Get the same site, with better setup and support for the right price.

Drawing Back the Curtain and Finding You've Been Overcharged and Underserved

Many agencies pray on people’s lack of hosting knowledge to price gouge.

We see it all the time. When we find out how much clients are being charged for “managed” hosting, we are shocked. What’s worse is the provider usually only sits updating plugins while collecting the checks. One client was paying thousands a year. Another local building company was paying $100+ a month for managed hosting. Now they pay $300 a year for both hosting and maintenance.

Pay what you should. We perform monthly backups along with plugin, theme and WordPress updates. We make sure the updates WordPress roles out don’t affect your site design or performance. If it does, we go in and fix it, or roll it back until WordPress resolves the issue. We make sure all images are uploaded at the correct size, and install caching and optimization plugins to increase site performance and speed.
Here are our managed hosting prices:
$170 a YEAR for standard hosting
$150 a YEAR for Maintenance
This includes our pro plugin bundle
